Submit a research
A research team from a participating center that wishes to conduct a multicenter analysis can submit a research proposal to the Scientific Committee. The following procedure should be followed:
- The research team should fill in the research proposal, which must contain one or two pages with the study’s objective, material and methods, and expected results. The proposal format can be downloaded below.
- The research team sends the proposal to mitralvalvedatabase@heartvalvesociety.org at any time.
- The data manager will send the research proposal to the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee will review the proposal to assess the validity of the research question and proper use of the data. The Scientific Committee can reject, accept or accept the proposal with changes. The researchers have 1 chance to improve their proposal.
- If the research proposal is accepted, the database manager will send a pseudonymized dataset that does not contain patient and center identifying variables. The research team will have six months from the date of data extraction to analyze the data and write a draft publication that should be presented at the next meeting. If the deadline is exceeded, the topic can be passed on to another group.
